field trip day 🚀🧑‍🚀 field trip day 🚀🧑‍🚀
This is literally Benji’s first time walking along This is literally Benji’s first time walking alongside the cart instead of sitting in it… and I’m still trying to put into words what this moment means to me.

To some people, it might seem small. Just a little walk through a store. But for us… it’s everything. No rushing. No overwhelm. Just him walking next to me. Moments like these feel like a little glimpse of normalcy 🤍

Sometimes I sit back and realize… we’ve made more Sometimes I sit back and realize…
we’ve made more memories in these last 2 years
than I did in years of surviving something that never felt like home.

Not because everything is perfect now—
but because it’s real.

There’s laughter.
There’s chaos.
There’s healing in the middle of it all.

And most importantly…
there’s peace.

My kids get a version of me that’s present.
That’s safe.
That’s learning how to breathe again.

And that means everything.

✨ Healing doesn’t always look loud… sometimes it looks like quiet, happy moments you once prayed for.

Some days I feel like I’m constantly explaining my Some days I feel like I’m constantly explaining my child to the world.

“High functioning.”
“He doesn’t look autistic.”
“He seems fine.”

But what people don’t see… is everything that happens in between those moments.

They don’t see the meltdowns that come out of nowhere.
The transitions that feel impossible.
The sensory overload that turns a normal day into a battle.
The exhaustion… for him and for me.

Because autism doesn’t always look the way people expect it to.

Benji may smile, talk, play…
but that doesn’t mean it’s easy.
It doesn’t mean he isn’t struggling.
And it definitely doesn’t mean we aren’t.

“High functioning” doesn’t mean no struggles.
It just means the struggles are easier for others to overlook.

And that’s the hardest part.

Being misunderstood.
Having his needs dismissed.
Feeling like I have to prove something that we live every single day.

But I see him.
All of him.
His challenges, his strength, his beautiful, unique way of experiencing the world.

And I will always be his voice when the world doesn’t understand.

🤍

Autism isn’t a trend. It’s not just a day. It’s no Autism isn’t a trend.
It’s not just a day.
It’s not just a month.

It’s every early morning, every meltdown, every breakthrough, every tiny victory that feels huge.

It’s learning a new language of love, patience, and understanding.

Don’t celebrate autism only when it’s convenient.
Show up. Learn. Include. Support. Every single day.

Because our kids don’t stop being autistic when April ends. 💙♾️

Happy New Year, 2026 🤍 Walking into this year with Happy New Year, 2026 🤍
Walking into this year with grace, growth, and so much love for our beautifully unique journeys.
Here’s to progress over perfection, small wins, and showing up as we are.

Lately I’ve been sitting in so much gratitude and Lately I’ve been sitting in so much gratitude and pride as I watch Benji continue to grow. He’s learning math. He’s learning how to read. He’s asking questions, making connections, and showing just how much he understands the world around him. And don’t even get me started on his knowledge of animals, it’s truly astounding. From the tiniest details to the most obscure species, his memory and curiosity blow me away every single day.

Because of all this progress, Benji will be transitioning into a different program, one that’s less extensive, more moderate, and more academic. This next step feels huge. Not because the journey has been easy (it hasn’t), but because it’s a reminder of how far he’s come through persistence, patience, and so much hard work.

I’m endlessly proud of Benji! Of his determination, his brilliance, and the way he keeps showing up and trying, even when things are hard. And I’m proud of myself too. For advocating. For learning alongside him. For staying the course on days that felt heavy and uncertain. This journey has stretched me in ways I never expected, and today I’m allowing myself to honor that growth as well.

Progress doesn’t always look the way people expect it to, but moments like this remind me that it is real, it is meaningful, and it deserves to be celebrated. 💙
